| Puppy Stolen From 8-Year-Old Boy In Northeast DC | |
WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Thieves stole the puppy from an 8-year-old boy outside his house in Northeast Washington. The, a stranger living in Oregon saw his story and wanted to give him a new dog. Kofi and his mother Barrie Gordon were devastated after thieves took their puppy, Luxy. When Steve Smiley saw their story on television, he decided to give Kofi a new one. "It's a shame to treat a little kid like that, because it would be a lasting memory of his forever that somebody really took advantage of him," Smiley said. The 81-year-old breeds Yorkshire Terriers. The only problem is that Mr. Smiley lives near Astoria, Oregon, nearly 3,000 miles away. Smiley called his local paper, the Daily Astorian, and they contacted 9NEWS NOW. Soon, Kofi and his mom heard from Mr. Smiley and made arrangements to pick up Sam, a 6-month-old Yorkie. "He knows that we appreciate this very much," Barrie said. Sam arrived this week on a cargo plane. Sam is already house trained, has all his vaccinations, and has been micro-chipped. "Because when he gets lost, you can find him easily," Kofi said. The family is still looking for Luxy. They are hoping one day she'll be returned, and Sam will have a sister. |
